Insurance and payment

You can see Dr. Subhash Ushakoyala, Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon at Grand Infinity Medical Center in Al Muteena, Deira, Dubai, with health insurance or by paying yourself. This page explains what the clinic needs to check your cover, what pre-approval means, and what to ask your insurer before you come.

What the clinic needs to check your cover

Send or bring these when you book. The clinic checks your plan with the insurer.

  • Your insurance card (a photo of both sides is fine when you book).
  • Your Emirates ID.
  • The name of the person who holds the policy, if it is a family member or your employer.
  • Any referral letter your plan asks for.

Is my insurer accepted?

The clinic accepts all major health insurance plans. For the details of your own plan, send the name of your insurer and your plan on WhatsApp to +971 58 599 7460. His nurse answers and will confirm before you book.

Pre-approval, in plain words

Pre-approval means the clinic asks your insurer for permission before some tests or treatments. It is common for an MRI or CT scan, for injections, and for any operation. The insurer looks at the reason and says yes, no, or asks for more details.

Ask the clinic who sends the request and when you will hear back. It can take some time. If the insurer says no, ask the clinic why and what your options are.

In Dubai, health insurance is required by law for residents and visitors, and every plan must give at least the cover set by the Dubai Health Authority (the Essential Benefits Plan). What your own plan covers above that depends on the plan.

Paying yourself

You can also see Dr. Subhash without insurance and pay the clinic yourself. Ask the clinic for the current fee when you book. Before any scan, injection or operation, ask for the cost in writing so there are no surprises.

What to ask your insurer before you come

  • Is a specialist orthopaedic consultation covered, and do I need a referral first?
  • What do I pay myself at each visit (co-payment or deductible)?
  • Do scans such as MRI need pre-approval?
  • Is physiotherapy covered, and how many sessions?
  • If I need an operation, which hospitals does my plan use?

Questions patients ask

Which insurance does the clinic accept?

All major health insurance plans. Send your insurer and plan on WhatsApp to +971 58 599 7460 and his nurse will confirm the details for your plan.

What is a co-payment?

A part of the bill your plan asks you to pay yourself at each visit. Your insurance card or policy shows it, or your insurer can tell you.

How long does pre-approval take?

It depends on the insurer and on what is being asked for. The clinic sends the request and tells you when the answer comes.

Can I pay myself and claim later?

Some plans allow this. Ask your insurer before you pay, and keep every receipt and report.
